Stand before a mirror to wear glasses

Look straight ahead, position your glasses so that the middle of the lenses is positioned at the center of your eyes.

Plastic frames

Then, use your hands to gently move the plastic upwards until you achieve your desired position. Use the hair dryer carefully because it can melt the plastic of your eyeglasses.

If you can’t get a hair dryer, an alternative is to run your eyeglasses user hot water for about 15 to 25 seconds. In doing so, you will make the arms pliable enough to be adjusted. You also need to be cautious with hot water as plastic may snap when heated.

Wire frames

To adjust your wire frames to your desired position, use small pliers to bend the temple arms gently. Keep putting your glasses on to ascertain whether they are in position. You may also observe yourself in a mirror to check the position of your glasses.

Ensure not to utilize wire cutters as they can easily damage your frames. It is recommendable to use padded pliers to avoid damaging your pair of glasses.  

Adjust or bend the earpieces

Begin by checking your eyepiece curvature. If your glasses are pinching on the sides of your head or ears, you should bend the earpiece upward. If you have loose glasses that are slip off on your nose, adjust them by twisting your earpieces inwards. Again, the way you achieve this is based on your frame type. 

Use pliers or even bare hands to adjust the earpieces of your wire framed eyeglasses.

For plastic frames, use hot water or a hair dryer to make the plastic pliable before bending it to your desired position.

Tightening eyeglass screws

If your eyewear slides down your face, this kind of adjustment is the most ideal for fixing the problem. It helps to secure the lenses of their frames. To accomplish this, you need a very small screwdriver that fits your eyewear screws.

Such screwdrivers come with standard eyewear repair and cleaning kits. You need not over tighten your eyeglass screws to avoid damaging the metal or plastic that holds them in place.

Fixing nose pads

Understand the nature of your frames
